Job Description:

Summary

The Patient Companion/Transporter will support the care of individuals who require full 24-hour observation for their safety. In this role, the employee will:

* Support a work environment that promotes safety for patients, staff, and customers.


* Report safety concerns or defective equipment.


* Maintain awareness of safety at all times. Provide continuous observation of assigned patients to promote safety and prevention of injury.


* Maintain continuous observation as needed. Either personally or by safely transferring observation to another team member.


* Collect and report data about the patient/family as directed by Registered Nurse.


* Remain alert for, and report changes related to patient safety.


* Promptly call for assistance as needed.



Education, Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

* High School Diploma or equivalent required


* Strong attention to detail


* Must be able to observe patient visually as well as listening skills. Assist patient in and out of bed when appropriate.


* Will be oriented to provide basic patient care duties.


* Excellent communication skills.



Required Licensure or Certification

* Must obtain BLS during orientation


* Annual N-95 mask fit test


* CPI (Crisis Prevention Intervention)
